A revered respiratory and ceremonial herb with grounding, clearing, and protective properties.
Osha root — also known as Bear Root — is native to the Rocky Mountains of North America and Mexico. Traditionally honoured by Indigenous peoples and wild foraged by bears emerging from hibernation, this potent root supports the clearing of stagnation including the lungs, kidneys, skin, and intestines.
Primarily used as a respiratory aid and for sore throats, Osha may help soothe the lungs, clear congestion, and support immunity. It has also been used to stimulate appetite and aid recovery after physical or emotional exhaustion.
What makes Osha very special is its spiritual use. It is considered a powerful plant for voice activation and purification before ceremony. Osha helps build strength in the body to speak up for the truth, opening the throat to declare one’s boundaries and overcoming the fears of confrontation. It is also used for spiritual cleansing and protection of the body.
Due to the plant’s wild status and ecological sensitivity, we encourage mindful use and consider licorice or elecampane as sustainable lung-supporting alternatives where appropriate. Please save this medicine for very intentional use especially for times of healing your voice to speak up.
Please consult your health practitioner and take the time to do your own research before consuming and plant preparation. Ensure there are no interactions, if you are currently taking medication. This product has not been evaluated by the TGA for safe internal use.
Store in a cool, dark place out of sunlight, heat, and air exposure.
