Achillea millefolium is the Latin name for the herb Yarrow. Yarrow is healing herb of Achilles, the hero who used the herb to treat his warriors on the battle field. This is due to Yarrow’s astringing, anti-inflammatory & antiseptic qualities. It can seal and knit back together an open wound on the skin or lesions in the gut, stop bleeding internally or externally, and brings new blood flow by boosting circulation to the area and peripherally dilates vessels to lower blood pressure at the same time. It warms up the body, brings on immense sweating to purge out rotten waters stuck inside the body in the dampness of a condition. It is a powerful plant to teach the body energetica boundaries, keeping the inside in and the outside out.

Warnings:  The volatile oil contains thujone which is a neurotoxic compound. Used with caution. High doses may cause headaches and photosensitivity in some people. Avoid during the first trimester of pregnancy as it has a mild uterine stimulant effect. Long-term use (months) may lead to photosensitivity and that sensitive individuals may develop a rash as well as dryness. The essential oil is contraindicated in pregnancy due to its emmenogogue and abortifacient effects. Increases gut motility, thus may theoretically decrease absorption of drugs if taken simultaneously.

Please consult your health practitioner and take the time time to do your own research before consuming and plant preparation. Ensure there are no interactions, if you are currently taking medication.

Alcohol extracts are far superior to any other method of extraction. It extracts the most amount of the chemicals compared to any other solvent. It helps the medicine to also diffuse quickly into the bloodstream.

Alcohol is warming and medicine unto itself. To add, it also can esterify vitamins, oils and other medicinal chemicals making them more bioavailable and water soluble.

To be really specific: the amount of alcohol in tinctures is incredibly tiny. Less than you will get from eating a few pieces of bread.

If you are taking 20 drops of a 60 percent alcohol tincture every hour for an acute condition, you will get less than 2ml of alcohol over the course of a day.

If you are taking a general dose of 20 drops three times daily, this is less alcohol than you will get from eating two slices of bread.

If alcohol is a serious problem for you, then consider alternative extracts.

Please store in a cool dark place, out of sunlight, heat & air exposure.
